Trump Selects Elise Stefanik as U.S. Ambassador to the UN



U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has confirmed that he will nominate New York Representative Elise Stefanik, a strong pro-Israel advocate, as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

"I am honored to nominate Chairwoman Elise Stefanik to serve in my Cabinet as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Elise is a powerful, determined, and intelligent America First leader," Trump stated in a release to Global Lens.

Stefanik expressed her gratitude for the nomination and confirmed her acceptance of the position.

"I am deeply honored to receive President Trump’s nomination to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations," Stefanik told The Post. "During my conversation with President Trump, I expressed my humility in accepting this role and my commitment to securing the support of my colleagues in the Senate."

She added, "President Trump’s historic election victory has renewed hope for the American people, signaling brighter days ahead both domestically and internationally. The United States remains a beacon to the world, and we expect our allies to stand with us as strong partners in pursuing peace."

Stefanik, a prominent Republican in Congress, has long been a leading advocate for Israel and a strong voice against antisemitism on U.S. campuses. Last fall, her pointed questioning led to the resignation of the presidents of Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania, following their hesitation to condemn calls for genocide against Jews.

In a recent meeting with the Knesset Caucus for Jewish and Pro-Israel Students on Campuses Around the World, Stefanik criticized President Joe Biden’s decision to delay a major arms shipment to Israel. She warned that, without the necessary weapons to "secure total victory," the United States could face a situation similar to Israel's October 7 attack.
